Meet Our SALTY/BBYO Advisor -
Caroline Shelton!

We are so lucky to have Caroline, as our SALTY / BBYO advisor.
Caroline was once a SALTY member herself. Caroline, and her family has been TBT members since 1999. Caroline graduated from Guilford High School, Mount Holyoke College, and is currently teaching elementary school while pursuing a graduate degree in Remedial Reading at Southern Connecticut State University.

Caroline served as secretary on the SALTY board, with her favorite memories being the Purim Carnival Shul-In and Freshmen Breakfast. SALTY was very important to her as a high schooler, knowing there was a place outside of the High School, where Judaism brought everyone together instead of making them different.

Caroline wants to help us grow our love for Judaism, incorporate it into our daily lives, and foster our leadership skills. She also hopes to facilitate communication between our adult congregants and youth to address current issues facing society, such as antisemitism and racial injustices. Caroline is ecstatic to advise our SALTY BBYO high schoolers, and we are so excited to have her as our new advisor!

WHAT IS SALTY?

Now partnered with BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization), SALTY offers a unique and meaningful Jewish experience. This youth group is a place where Jewish teens can explore their Jewish identity while having fun and creating life long friendships. The programs run through SALTY range from apple picking, to running Shabbat services, to having a slumber party at the temple! SALTY participates in regional BBYO events including dances, conventions, and dodgeball tournaments.

BBYO is an all inclusive Jewish organization that welcomes and embraces all forms of Judaism, so we encourage ALL Jewish teens to join SALTY.

For more information feel free to contact the Temple Office (203-245-7028).

All 9th - 12th graders are eligible for SALTY membership and 8th graders are invited to attend their first BBYO Convention in the 2nd semester of their 8th grade year. Join us!

SALTY, the Shoreline Alliance for Temple Youth, is the Temple Beth Tikvah Youth Group. Affiliated with both NFTY (the Reform Movement's North American Federation of Temple Youth) and BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, a trans-denominational Jewish youth organization), participation in SALTY allows you to continue your life long friendships from TBT's Religious School, make new Jewish friends, strengthen your Jewish identity, hone your leadership skills and have a great time participating in activities at TBT and in the broader Jewish community.
